Although probably insufficient for a serious time trial bike, they serve the purpose of providing an alternate hand position for the standard road bike during long, competitive club rides. Your hands can switch from the drops and back while your body remains stable in a low, aggressive posture. I quickly got addicted to these and will probably never ride without them.
